OVER 2.6 MILLION UNITS SOLD, BUT XBOX 360 WAS EASILY THE MOST POPULAR CHOICE

Sony was a the last to announce their sales figures this week, but now all the numbers are out. Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft have all given their results. And the reports confirm that the Xbox 360 outsold all the competition in last week’s frenzied shop fest, also known as Black Friday. The deals began well before Friday, of course, and there were some great offers out there for gamers.

Microsoft had a host of bundles available for savvy shoppers keen to acquire an Xbox 360 console and some great games. The brand new Wii U, along with its other Nintendo siblings, and Sony’s PS3 and PS Vita were also in the running, of course, and all of them saw a surge in sales.

In the end, this battle of the console wars, clearly went to Xbox.

BLACK FRIDAY SALES (UNITS SOLD)

XBOX 360                                 750,000

PLAYSTATION 3                    525,000

PS VITA                                    160,000

WII U                                        400,000

WII                                            300,000

NINTENDO DS                        275,000

NINTENDO 3DS                      250,000

While Sony and Nintendo did do some brisk business, the Xbox 360 was the bestseller. Not too shabby for a seven-year old console.

If the latest rumors pan out, the next-gen Xbox will be out this time next year… only time (and/or Microsoft) will tell. Either way, this week brought good news for Xbox fans.

  1.

Xbox sold almost as much as all of the nintendo consoles combined. Not looking good for the Wii U.

I saw my first Wii U commercial last night, none of the people I was with understood what it was. They all thought it was another tablet.
