Xbox One Gets Unity Engine For Indie Games

by on June 28, 2013

Microsoft has announced a deal with Unity Technologies giving the Xbox One compatibility with the Unity engine for its Indie games. The version for Xbox One indie games will have all new features. Smartglass functionality along with Kinect and cloud compatibility will be available as well. The cloud feature is intriguing as it allows even Indie developers now to tap into the Project Mountain being developed by Microsoft.

Although Microsoft still requires publisher backing for Indie games, it made a little headway so far. Any game being published by Microsoft studios will be able to use Unity free of charge. No price is available for other publishers yet. The deal is fresh out of the oven so we’ll get you more info as it becomes available.
