New Tony Hawks Titles In Consideration
As we have mentioned in a previous article (CLICK ME!), Tony Hawks HD hit a rather impressive milestone. And because of that milestone, Tony Hawks could be heading towards bigger, better games for the series.
Josh Tsui, the CEO of Robomodo stats that the reason Tony Hawks HD was made to see how the public would react to it. And considering that you lot reacted so well (120,000 of us anyway) new titles may now be on the cards.
“By making [Tony Hawk’s HD] ‘lower risk’ we were allowed to take some chances, which benefits both developer and publisher. The prospect of a fuller game is definitely on the table — it’s just a matter of when and how.”
But with great success comes harsher obstacles. Although the sales for THPS was incredible, some reviews of the game weren’t very friendly, in Tsui’s own words, the reviews were ‘quite vicious’. He went on to explain:
“The tricky thing about this game specifically is that it plays to childhood or teen memories and those memories can be very subjective. We kept the mechanics the same even though they were 13-years-old because that was our number one priority. Had we changed it up and modernized it, we would have gotten the same criticism from the other side.”
Which I 100% agree with, changing the mechanics would have caused all the die hard fans of the series to moan and complain about it. Tsui wouldn’t have been able to win, no matter which route he decided to take. But despite all the vicious reviews, Tsui says that a reboot of the Tony Hawk series is definitely being discussed.
