Rocksteady hiring for Xbox 720 game?
Rocksteady seem to be advertising for staff for a project on the ‘next generation of consoles’. We all know that Rocksteady aren’t slow off the block with their titles, they announced the sequel to Batman Arkham Asylum only 3 months after AAs release! It’s been quite a bit longer than that since Arkham City was released so people are now starting to wonder what their next move will be.
According to the job posting seen, it does seem that Rocksteady are wanting to move aim to a bigger target. Xbox 720. The recruiting website Specialmove posted a listing for a ‘Senior Engine Programmer’ position with Rocksteady. This team member will specifically work on ‘AAA title on the next generation platforms’. It adds to the description, the candidate should have ‘experience with low-level PS3 programming’.
Reading into this, it could mean that Rocksteady aren’t willing to abandon the old generation as it moves into the newer age. As we have seen with the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3, console can and will be expensive when they are first released to the public. This would more than likely affect the sales of any next generation game if the majority of the public can’t afford a next gen console. The solution would be to make the game available on as many consoles as possible.
With the success of the Batman titles on this generation consoles, will Rocksteady be making a third Batman game or moving onto other comic book franchises as rumored? The one rumor back in January was that Rocksteady was going towards Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It was to have the same look and feel as the Arkham games. Unfortunately this rumor was squashed when Segton Hill (Rocksteady head) told Kotaku that the team wasn’t making a Turtles game. Shame as it may have been quite good.
But what you do you all think about Rocksteady possibly moving to the next generation already? Good or bad idea? Let us know in the comments!
