RESIDENT EVIL 6 JAKE E3 DEMO

This latest Resident Evil 6 E3 demo showed some gameplay footage with a new character to the Resident Evil franchise; Jake Muller who is non other then Albert Weskers son. Each character in Resident Evil 6, as I’m sure you already  know is accompanied by a co-op companion and joining Jake will be Sherry Birkin who has been absent since Resident Evil 2.  It has also been revealed that you will be able to play Resident Evil 6 via Split Screen co-op on the same console, as well as online co-op.

The demo begins with Jake and Sherry on the run, from a band of mercenaries who are literately after his blood as Jake has a very unique blood type and not only that, they are being chased by new and very big enemy to the Resident Evil family which is known as Ustanak.

The opening footage of this demo see’s Jake and Sherry on the run from the mercenaries who are after Jake’s blood and now the Ustanak has joined the party, like anything could get any worse.  Just before the Ustanak joins chase on Jake and Sherry, you witness it brutally killing what appears to be one of the mercenaries.  He seems to have some kind of mechanical gadgets with nasty sharp objects attached to him. Are these some kind of surgical weaponry or are they used to feed off humans? I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough by the time the full game is released.

But just when the mercenaries think that they are closing in on Jake and Sherry, the Ustanak runs straight through them, killing any that are in his path.  Then he begins chase on Jake and Sherry, the camera pans to a view almost over their shoulders as the Ustanak is right behind them, it certainly looks like gameplay that has major panic factor.  They somehow manage to escape the Ustanak by retreating into a derelict building, but something tells me that it won’t be the last they see of him.

It’s in here we see an array of Jakes melee and counter moves when he is pitted against some of the mercenaries that are hunting him down.  At one point Jake actually pulls of swinging DDT! (fans of wrestling will know what I mean), it seems like Jake is very mobile, athletic and may rely heavily on his hand to hand combat skills, especially with ammo looking very scares in all of the demo’s we’ve seen so far.

The demo then see’s Jake and Sherry attempt to leave the building until the Ustanak has tracked them down, Resident Evil 3 Nemesis style! This shows an epic battle against the Ustanak, who not only has nasty mechanical objects attached to him, but he also has an extending grappling arm that will be able to attack you from long range, very much like the Bandersnatch monster from Code Veronica.

Resident Evil 6 is due for release on 2^nd October 2012
