Minecraft Selling 17,000 Copies Per DAY!

Yes you read that right. Minecraft Xbox 360 version is selling roughly 17,000 copies (or more) per day at the moment. Because of these incredible amounts of sales, Mojang are expecting to double their profits from last year!

In 2011 the developer reported of profits over £5.6 million, with the revenues totaling £52 million!! To think about it, it’s just incredible how much money they are making from this. Markus Persson’s own company, Notch Development’ took £40 million of last years revenues, but it is expected that Mojang will recieve a higher percentage this time after the Minecraft creator stepped away from leading development.

“Since Mojang keeps more of the earnings from the new Minecraft versions, our turnover increases a lot this year. Our profits will more than double. Markus’ company will also make more money, though perhaps not as high a percentage as Mojang.”

You think that Minecraft has already beaten plenty of records for sales on XBLA, already passing the 3 million mark (unbelievable), which means it has raised more than $60 million for themselves on the 360 version alone! To think when they finally add creative mode I can see the sales sky rocketing yet again.
