Minecraft is due to get a patch some time this month, it is currently in certification testing so it can’t be too far away! The main thing this patch will be adding is an autosave feature. But bear in mind that this isn’t an update so there aren’t any new features being added just yet (Booo).

We have managed to get a list (see below) of what is actual inside this upcoming patch:

Changes:

  • Added an autosave, and the ability to turn autosave off, or set it from 15 minutes up to 2 hours in 15 minute steps.
  • Split the sensitivity controls into an in-game sensitivity and an in-menu sensitivity.
  • Added an Interface Opacity slider in the settings for plasma screen users.
  • Added a gamertag display in splitscreen, and the ability to enable/disable it in the settings.
  • Added an option in the settings menu to enable/disable in-game hints.
  • Added an option in the settings menu to enable/disable tooltips.
  • Added a co-ordinate display to the in-game map.
  • Added new sections in the How To Play on Multiplayer, Sharing Screenshots, and What’s New.
  • Added a warning message when attempting to place lava near the spawn area.

Fixes:

  • Fix for the leaderboard crash when toggling between filters/leaderboards.
  • Fix for server disconnect message appearing when offline or in leaderboards.
  • Fix for issue where posting a screenshot to Facebook caused a back out to the main menu.
  • Fix for clay generation.
  • Fix for ‘Awaiting Approval’ showing all the time on some signs.
  • Various crafting menu fixes.
  • Fix for being able to stand on sugarcane.
  • Fix for intermittent crash on saving.
  • Fix for duplication bug with the furnace.
  • Fix for not being able to place water near the spawn area.
  • Fix for intermittent problem on entering the Nether putting the player above the Nether world.
  • Fix for frame-rate drop around the edge of the world.
  • Fix for intermittent problem where some achievements were not being awarded.
  • Fix for graphical issue with stairs.
  • Fix for issue with enemies spawning inside a house when they shouldn’t.
  • Fix for Zombie Pigmen not being counted for leaderboard scores.

So there you have it. Quite a few new options added and quite a few fixes. Looks like the dupe glitch is now going to be made redundant, which does mean I’m going to have to wait (and hope) for a creative mode update to carry on with my pixel art. Hopefully the fix with clay generation means we find more of it, for all the hours I’ve played I found more diamond than clay. Something tells me that’s not right!

  1. When is this? I will be doing some serious dispenser glitching just before this is released as we won’t have Creative mode till 1.8. The dispenser glitch added ease of building but with limitations in survival mode.

  2. Yeah i’ll be doing extra duping before patch. I cant wait for pistons, and I’m so ready for creative. But I also would like to know when this is! I never played the computer version so I’m hoping im in for some surprises in upcoming updates. If anyone has any info on updates (dates and whatnot) leave a reply!

    Playing with myself until update,

    J-Swag out

    • I can’t wait for it either. Just can’t get into MC at the moment knowing that I will no longer be able to dupe. And I’m guessing I will have to start a new map when creative is released. Trust me J-swag, soon as we know when the update is, we will be posting it here ASAP :)

  3. Most of these are very welcome changes to me. Can’t wait for pistons but will definitely stock up on items needed for large projects.
