Recordings in the Library Of Congress. Cocoa Beans consumed annually in tons. iPads sold in 4 days. You may be wondering, “what do these things have in common?” Well, each of them are over 3 million strong, and now, so is the amount of people playing Minecraft on Xbox.

The creator of this gaming phenomenon, Markus Persson (or  ’Notch’ as he prefers on Twitter) announced via the micro-blogging site that the game sped past the 3 million sales mark, despite only having been available for just over a month and a half.

“I got told Minecraft for XBLA passed three million sales today!” I imagine Notch was leaping as he wrote that tweet, and according to Gamespot, the total amount in sales would result in the hefty sum of $60 million in sales. Not surprisingly, it’s being hailed as one of the most succesful XBLA games of all time.

With 400,000 copies sold in its first day of retail, that figure soon escalated to just under a million in less than a week. Along with a recent patch that fixed many of the game’s bugs, it’s first hefty chunk of DLC (45 skins) was released this week for just 160MSP. WIth an even bigger update heading our way quite soon, 3 million could hit 30 million before we know it.

Quite simply, I'm 18, I'm a huge metalhead (but I dont judge others for their music tastes), I'm a zombie "fan", if you can be a fan of the marauding undead. I've been a huge gamer all my life, and I've managed to get my 4 year old sister to follow in my footsteps (She plays a mean round of Crash Nitro Kart)
