007 Legends: 6 Bond Films Shaken, Not Stirred

Activision and Eurocom team up to bring us 007 Legends, an homage to 50 years of James Bond, due to hit shelves 19/10/2012 (I suspect the North American date will be 16/10/2012).

007 Legends takes a different approach than the other games in the franchise and ties together 6 films from the Bond collection and will include the coming installment Skyfall. So far, only Moonraker (the 11th Bond film) has been confirmed as a playable portion of the single, over-arching storyline that has been crafted to bring these different instances of Bond’s experience together. Covering more than just the current generation of Bond is sure to add diversity to the Bond universe.

The Moonraker missions have had details released so we know that, just as in the films, it will take place at the space port of Hugo Drax, an industrialist billionaire whose plan is to poison the Earth. The player will have to figure out who they can trust in the infiltration of the moon base. Here the player will also come face to face with an icon in the world of henchmen, Jaws.

Be prepared to find yourself in exotic locations, drive the sleek and sexy cars that Bond has always been behind the wheel of, and wield a variety of state-of-the-art spy gadgets and a selection of weapons (including the PPK that is practically inseparable from Bond). He’s always had class, style, and smarts to get in and out of situations with and without guns blazing as well as pulling off high profile stunts during escapes and chases.

Mi6 Ops Missions, a fan favorite challenge mode (debuted with GoldenEye 007: Reloaded) that offered up a variety of extra missions to think, sneak and shoot through in order to take a place on the global leader boards with their score, will be making a return in 007 Legends.

The multiplayer experience looks to be solid with local four-player split screen modes for gaming as well as online capability to go head to head in competitive game modes. Players will be able to select from Bond villains, allies, or the master spy himself as they set out onto new maps and strike one another down with new weapons. Personally, I hope that there will also be a revival of older weapons and game modes.

Proximity mines and slappers, anyone?
