Imagine 01 – Battlefield Fortress Defence
Welcome to the first issue of Imagine. Imagine is about you, the community and us, the authors, coming up with innovative new ideas for games. Whether it be a brand new game, an expansion of a current game or simply a small include into a game, we can do it.
In this issue, we look at Battlefield 3 and a fortress defence mode.
Now this isn’t everybody’s cup of tea but I guarantee (ha) that it could supply hours of fun with friends and as a solo player. It could be included into the already awesome Battlefield 3 or set up as a brand new stand-alone.
The basic idea is this: you have to defend a certain location from waves of enemies. Whether this is a building or a whole base, you call the shots.
A command module that you could use to buy units, build positions and survey the battlefield could be easily accessible although the main action would take place on the ground. You control a character who has access to all the vehicles and weapons in the game. You must use these assets to your full advantage whilst controlling your team.
The locations could scope all over. From protecting the president to holding down a town in the middle of the desert.
Teammates would be fully functional. You would have the ability to command them to enter your vehicle, support you, move to a position, and so on.
It’s just a idea.
