Crysis 3′s Hunter Mode – Sneaking Greatness
In the latest revolution to how we play, Hunter Mode, will see two “hunters” fight to take down ten (or fourteen on PC) CELL operatives. You might think that two-on-ten is a little imbalanced however the “hunters” have a few tricks up their sleeves. For starters, they each own a Nanosuit, capable of issuing permanent invisibility. Hunters are also issued with compound bows. They are slow to fire but come with normal arrows, and one explosive arrow for those explosive moments.
CELL operatives have the option to choose from a number of different loadouts. There were assault classes, sniper classes and explosives classes shown in the demo although we think shotguns might be on the scene. Every CELL operative also has a grenade that works in a similar way to an EMP, disabling the Nanosuit of hunters in the blast range.
The goal is to last two minutes, earning points every few seconds. Five rounds will ensue and the player with the highest total score after these five rounds will be victorious. Any CELL operative that is taken out by a hunter will end up as one himself, meaning the more dead friends you have, the lower your chances of survival.
This mode is reminiscent of the much loved Infected, although hunter mode will hopefully be a lot less campy!
The New York Feed is an interesting feature that is certainly similar to Need for Speed’s Autolog. If you beat a friends high score, they’ll be given a notification. Let the competition ensue.
That’s all we know for now. We’ll keep you posted though.
