BORDERLANDS 2 – NEW PLAYABLE CHARACTER IN THE WORKS

by on December 13, 2012

ANOTHER VAULT HUNTER FOR THE FRAY… SOON

Something awesome this way comes… They said that if Gaige the Mechromancer (the first character DLC) was a success with the fans, that they might create more playable characters and classes.

Victory is at hand, Borderlands 2 fans, for it has been confirmed from on high… (on Twittter, anyhow)  that, indeed, Gearbox has, in development, a new playable character. Randy Pitchford, President of Gearbox Software, says it is so, and he would know. Behold…

No word yet about the character apart from her/his/its existence, currently taking shape. Gearbox has been ahead of schedule with every endeavor this year; the game, the DLCs, Gaige was even launched early. So, expect an update soon!

Gaige, the Mechromancer… and her BFF, Deathtrap.

Share all your hopes and dreams in the comments below…  especially as they pertain to the mysterious new vault hunter.

What would you like to see?

A new siren? An archaeologist? A young boy and his pet skag? A knife-throwing ex-circus ninja chef superhero?

Don’t be shy… you can happy dance now if you like. You know you want to.

Thanks, Gameranx!

Well, I’m still lagging behind a bit thanks to a busy gaming schedule… so my Siren is only level 45. Hopefully by the time a new character drops I will have hit 50 and be ready to devote to a new one! I have managed to get one of each of the other classes (including Gaige) up to at least level 10, but haven’t decided which I would focus on after I hit 50 with the Siren. So maybe this new character will catch my eye. As for what I’d like to see, I more or less trust Gearbox to bring us something awesome. But I think it would be cool to see a character that is a vehicle expert (when they enter a vehicle all it’s stats go up and maybe even gets new abilities…, or even cooler, maybe this character can spawn it’s own cool new vehicle or even a flying ride!). Besides what I mentioned, I’d also give this character the ability to repair damaged rides (though this may not be that helpful since they heal themselves pretty well). Maybe this concept would work better in Borderlands 3 when the rides could be even more evolved…

Another cool idea would be to see a new character who maybe has a jetpack ability… not that they could fly so to speak, but it would work more like the jetpacks in Halo. More of a limited boost sort of thing. They could do a cool new death from above move! Of course, this same concept could be used for the character I described above.

All that said, I’m sure Gearbox will come up with something much better. That is why they make the big bucks.

Love those ideas… A jet-pack sounds like a reasonable bonus considering the presence of those in the game already, but I wouldn’t envy the people charged with defining the movement limits within all of the world maps. It would be a ton of work, but I’d happily play that character.
I think with Gaige they’ve preemptively raised your vehicle expert to an all around inventor.
She also cancels the intent I’d have by suggesting a character modeled after Kang the Mad of Jade Empire. Speaking of prototypes, my mention of “ex-circus” prompted a few people to suggest Raz from Psychonauts as a prototype character… (it would be amazing).
I am really hoping for another character with an attack pet. Deathtrap is awesome, still I miss Bloodwing. And I think there’s room for more than one hero and sidekick model.

Now granted, this is meaningless, i think you should add multiple characters, after playing gaige and leveling her up, im quite frankly bored with the repition, i want to see bad ass minigames and more explosions, we have torgue in the game, but if your an assassin, you see hardly any explosions, my way to fix this, an explodable sword slash. Along with creating new characters, you should also focus on the characters you have, as to not make them stagnant and underrated. You mentioned the knife throwing clown, this would be amazing, my proposition is that he doesnt really change weapons and his weapons progressively get better with level. this way if you want a rocket launcher, you have to play as someone else, there needs to be pros and cons to each player, and i mean wtf, we have the technology, the dedicated players of today should recieve a new character if they ask for it. the community between players and head honchos is in my opinion not what it should be. currently, we take what you give us. we should be in on it, giving you feedback and ways to improve the game. you should have a reviewing squad that reads all the feedback multiple times and allows for major improvements. even if i had to wait 30 minutes a day for the upgrades, improvements, and new characters, i would play this game. So please, listen to a player and revolutionize the gaming industry, along with rackin up the big bucks.
