Battlefield 3 BETA Release Day Upon Us!

As I sit here writing this, my Xbox is downloading the Beta. I had to look around for a bit as they haven’t put the trial into the Xbox Live Marketplace’s demo section. You have to go onto general games A-Z, find Battlefield 3 and then click get trial.

From what I’ve seen, the beta looks amazing. Some amongst us are extremely annoyed at the way DICE have released the demo for only 10 days (12 if you got it early) With only one map (Operation Metro) that all of us have seen in pre-release videos. I for one don’t mind this. I’m not looking for new maps – I can wait for the game to come out – however I can certainly feel the audiences pain at the lack of variety offered by the beta.

I’m writing before I get the demo and will write another after my first match. I want to give you my thoughts before I have played it. I have a strong belief that Battlefield 3 will be taking MW3 by storm and will cause a large stir of the current flow inside the gaming community. The Call of Duty franchise has been on top of the market ever since it released No. 4, MW and has been ever since, only being weakly challenged by the likes of Battlefield 2: Bad Company and Medal of Honour. However I think this could be the game to turn the tables.

Anyway, we shall see.
